AKILARIA RC2 EPOXY VERSION
Launched in August 2011, she was built with a firm philosophy of speed, reliability ergonomics to excel in long distance Class40 races. Her first event was the Global Ocean Race 2011-12, a double-handed round the world race which she won in style smashing the Class40 double-handed 24 hour distance record on the way – 359.1 miles at an average speed of 14.96 knots with the log reading over 25 knots of boat speed much of the time. Built in epoxy to maintain best-possible weight distribution, the boat was repainted in 2012 and looks the business in grey. Close to minimum weight and maximum righting moment within Class40 Rules, equipped to a very high standard with B&G instrumentation; excellent SatCom gear, solar panels and a Watt & Sea hydro-generator to power the boat efficiently. A new keel was installed in August 2013. Raced to 4th place in the highly competitive 2012 Normandy Channel Race and 2nd place in the 2013 RORC600 Class40 division proving that she remains a competitive weapon of choice.
