With one of my favourite races on the circuit under way after a beautiful start from Le Havre on the 8th of Novemeber, The fleet of double handed teams are racing towards Puerto Limon in Costa Rica where the finish lies, along with the the sunshine no doubt!

Many of the IMOCA Open 60's have been enjoying a turn of speed with some strong winds in the 30's and some amusing blogs coming out from the skippers already.

Dee Caffari and Brian Thompsonon board 'AVIVA' lead the British contingent in the fleet lying just 5 miles behind the leaders on 'Foncia', skippered by Michel Desjoyeaux and Jeremie Beyou. Michel Desjoyeaux is continuing where he left off after winning the Vendee Globe but still has a long way to go before the sanctuary of Puerto Limon.

Boatshed Performance.com who specialise in a tailored brokerage service for the Open 60 performance yachts involved in these races were on hand to offer support and well wishes to the skippers and teams.

That's not to say its been easy but its certainly been keeping everyone on their toes.
Unfortunately one of the trimarans, 'Actual', has capsized and sits awaiting with skipper Jean Le Cam after Yves Blévec, co-skipper, was removed to shore for some medical attention.
Le Cam is awaiting aid in order to right her and bring her back under tow and must surely be devastated at the current situation , but am sure will be back with extra vigour and drive.

The next few days will be as always in these events a stunning combination of the preparation, skill, planning, tactics and a wee spot of luck.

Bon Chance!
